Safety Tips for Parents and Children at the Albion Fair
Fairs can be a lot of fun and we want everyone to enjoy themselves while visiting the Albion Fair. We also want you to be safe and know what to do in the event of an emergency or you become separated. Albion Fair has come up with 10 tips to help make your visit an enjoyable one! Please carefully read through our list. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Tip # 1 – Always keep your children in sight. It is very easy to become separated in a large group.
Tip # 2 – Make sure your child knows what to do if they become lost. Show and tell your children to go to the Fair Office or to go to the nearest Police Officer, Firefighter or Security Officer. We will keep them safe until you are reunited.
Tip # 3 –Report your lost child immediately to the Fair Office, or nearest Fire, Police or Security Personnel. We have an organized plan to help find your child if you get separated.
Tip # 4 – When reporting a missing child please make sure you are able to give a detailed description of what your child looks like today, including what they are wearing, any temporary tattoos, stickers or face paint. A photograph of the child would be very helpful.
Tip # 5- Albion Fair recommends you provide your child emergency contact information. A good way is to put the information on a piece of paper, place in a plastic bag, fold up, and put in their back pocket. These numbers can be helpful for a faster reunification especially with a young child.
Tip # 6 – Dress kids in bright colors to make them easier to spot. Make a game of remembering what color everyone is wearing that day. If you are with a large group, wear matching T-shirts to help identify your group.
Tip # 7 – Consider giving your elementary age children a cell phone while you’re in a crowd as a just-in-case backup.
Tip # 8 – Teach your children it is ok to say NO and GET AWAY from any person or situation making them feel scared, uncomfortable, or confused. Encourage your child to trust their feelings, and be sure to TELL a trusted adult if anything happens to make them feel this way. If your child tells you about an adult who is doing something that makes them feel uncomfortable or scared, then please make sure that information is relayed to public safety personnel. Do not confront the adult yourself.
Tip # 9 – Plan for the day’s weather so appropriate clothing is worn. On sunny days be sure to use sunscreen, applying often, and sunglasses to protect you from harmful UV rays. Always stay hydrated – drink plenty of water.
Tip #10 – The first aid area is located behind the main Fair office.
